The end of Matt Smith’s run on “Doctor Who” was plenty emotional, but luckily he and co-star Jenna-Louise Coleman were able to keep smiles on their faces in those final days.

In a a behind-the-scenes video from The Wrap, which appears on the “Day of the Doctor” DVD release, Smith commandeers a camera to ask Coleman what she’ll miss most about him. “The daily abuse,” she answers.

Based on the hugs and jokes they share in the video, it’s easy to see just how special their connection aboard the TARDIS was.

A huge congratulations to Matt for winning Best Drama Performance at Wednesday night’s National Television Awards for his role of The Doctor. Unfortunately Matt wasn’t there in person to collect his award due to his “American Psycho” commitments, but Jenna Coleman and Steven Moffat were there to collect the award on his behalf. The BBC later released a short video clip of Matt’s acceptance speech!

Former Time Lord Matt Smith admits that such was the chemistry between him and companion Clara played by Jenna Coleman, part of him believes that he could have stayed longer…

Matt Smith has admitted that part of him regrets leaving the TARDIS.

In the DVD extra for the Christmas special episode, The Time of the Doctor, Smith reveals that part of him would have liked to have stayed in the role for another year.

And the reason? The burgeoning chemistry with co-star Jenna Coleman.

“Part of me genuinely feels that I sort of wish we have had another go at it, another year because, I feel we have really come on and sort of evolved,” he tells the actress in the interview.

“We have had a good time making it. It’s been really fun to make it,” he says of the episode.

In the footage Coleman can be seen joking with Smith abut leaving the role. “You dumped me,” she quips.
